Day 4 - Friday 18th
August 2005
Morning of Day Four and we awoke none
the worse for wear. Bait boxes at the ready we
headed for the sea. Starting to get the hang
of the best areas to position ourselves now so apart
from the dough ridden fingers I was thoroughly enjoying
myself. Two fish today, enough for the
hunter/gatherer's lunch. I think my ace
photographer's catch was
a bit of a foul. His bait was surrounded with a
feeding frenzy and he took a flyer. Instead of
sedately reeling in his catch he yanked his whole
rod in the process nailing one in the arse. I am
told it does not matter how you do it but that was a
little embarrassing; having your fish arrive
inverted.
Temperatures back up to 38 degrees by
yesterday lunchtime. Whilst sitting on the rocks
with a sea breeze and the water at your feet you do
not feel the heat but as soon as you come away
“dragging” your haul the air is baking. A quick
fillet job and a plate of salad sees lunch out of
the way, now that's what you call a free lunch!
The best place to be at 17.00 is the
beach, holiday makers having left for the day the
locals tend to swim between 17.00 and 20.00. Might
as well get into the same habits, they seem to have
everything else right.
Tonight's extravaganza began at 19.00
with a game of a football between Married and Single
people followed on by the children's fashion show.
Last slot of the evening goes to the Dance till
05.00. Watching the local teenagers doing the Salsa
was fascinating. They seem to be able to change
partners and still look as if they have always been
dancing with that person. They must have been
doing it since they were young children. The
natural rhythm in their movements was transfixing.
We made it to bed by 03.30.
This is Your Cotillo Correspondent signing off,
slightly knackered and smelling of fish.
